Christopher Thompson, MD FAAHPM, is a current University of North Carolina (UNC) Addiction Medicine Fellow. He has a unique background with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. While volunteering as a Paramedic, Chris decided to pursue a new career in medicine. He attended Xavier University School of Medicine and received his Doctor of Medicine degree with Honors in January 2010. Dr. Thompson then completed Family Medicine Residency at Columbus Regional Medical Center in Columbus, GA. After residency, he attended a Fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (HPM) at Mercer University in Macon, GA. After a 10 years career in the field of Hospice, Dr. Thompson make the decision to return to training in the field of Addiction Medicine.
