Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship Director and Assistant Professor

Alexis Ritvo, MD MPH is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus adn the Associate Program Director of the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship. She supervises psychiatry residents in the UCHealth Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic (OPC). Born and raised in Denver, CO, she ventured to the northeast for college at Harvard where she graduated cum laude in social anthropology in 2005. She earned her Medical Degree and a Master’s in Public Health in Health Policy from Emory University in 2012. She completed her general psychiatry residency at CU in 2016 where she was the chief resident of the OPC. The following year, she did her addiction psychiatry fellowship at CU. She also completed the Denver Psychoanalytic Institutes’ two year Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Training Program in 2018. She has a passion for psychotherapy, teaching and improving health systems and policies. Her current professional goals are: 1. to increase psychiatry residents competency in evaluating and treating substance use disorders in general outpatient psychiatry and 2. to improve patient access to psychiatric treatment for substance use disorders.
