Payam Sazegar was raised in Vancouver, Canada and attended the University of British Columbia, where he completed both his medical school and Family Medicine residency, graduating in 2008. He subsequently obtained his fellowship in Addiction Medicine in 2010. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and American Board of Preventive Medicine. Dr Sazegar has been living in California for the past 10 years and currently serves as Family Medicine Specialty Director for the KP Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine and Core Faculty for the KP San Diego Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr Sazegar has served as CME teaching faculty on the topic of substance use disorders for Kaiser Permanente Southern California, California Society of Addiction Medicine, Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Outside of work he enjoys time with his wife and children, the beaches of So Cal, traveling the world, cooking, hockey, basketball and baseball
