Juliette Perzhinsky, MD, MSc, FACP is an Associate Professor of Medicine at CMU College of Medicine in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. She completed a master’s degree in research design and statistics at the University of Michigan School of Public Health followed by transitioning to fellowship at the VA’s National Center for Patient Safety prior to joining CMU. She has held both administrative leadership positions and educational roles at the VA and in academia. She was selected as a Gold Humanism Scholar and was also the recipient of a Picker Gold GME Challenge Grant awarded by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation to pilot an interprofessional curriculum to address the opioid crisis by integrating humanism in medicine during her tenure as an Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program at CMU. Dr. Perzhinsky’s primary clinical role at Oak Street Health involves the management of primarily older adults with complex, chronic pain and the use of medications to treat opioid use disorder. This aligns with her teaching role in patient safety and delivering medication-assisted treatment (MAT) waiver training to CMU students as the Project Director on the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) PCSS—Universities grant. The goal is to increase workforce capacity with treating patients with opioid use disorder in rural health regions of Michigan.
