Carissa H. McGinnis MSN, RN, CIC has worked in infection prevention for 7 years. She received her Diploma in Nursing from Presbyterian School of Nursing in Charlotte , NC and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing Education from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. Carissa began her nursing career as a critical care nurse. After 15 years she transitioned into the role of Sepsis Coordinator. In 2016, Carissa began her journey as an infection preventionist with CaroMont Regional Medical Center. During this time, she joined the APIC National Communications Committee and has been a part of updating infographs for Infection Prevention and You. Carissa has also participated in helping to revise the APIC NC Operations Policy Manual and has published an article in Prevention Strategist related to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the lessons learned.
