Karen Hoffmann has served as the Clinical Instructor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of North Carolina’s School of Medicine in Chapel Hill since 1988. Karen also currently serves as tnfection Preventionist consultant to the Centers for Medciare and Medicaid Services, Quality, Safety and Oversoight Group. She has specialized in infection control and prevention for over 30 years including 23 years as the Associate Director for the NC Stateide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE). Karen is a Fellow of both SHEA and APIC and is the 2019 APIC President. Karen earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Indiana University and her Master of Science degree in Healthcare Epidemiology from the University of Virginia.
