Session Description: This presentation would outline the steps to take when you get a call that a suspect measles case is a patient in your facility. The situation is further compounded by heading into a holiday when confirmatory testing would not be available until after prophylaxis window closed for high risk individuals. I would highlight the methods used to find and notify high risk exposed patients, collaboration with local health jurisdiction, and the internal coordination when the event turned in to the largest outbreak recorded in over 20 years in the Pacific Northwest. If sufficient time, I can also expand on the legislative lobbying we did that resulted in mandatory measles vaccination for all school children in Washington State.
