Session Description:The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 22,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States, including hospitals and health care organizations that provide ambulatory and office-based surgery, behavioral health, home health care, laboratory and nursing care center services. As guidelines, regulations, recommendations and best practices change and are put forth it is important to know what is required and what isn’t. In this session a Joint Commission expert will speak with Infection Preventionists about common myths and facts about the work of Joint Commission.

Highlight some of the most common pitfalls that occur during Joint Commission visits.
Highlight 3-5 myths about what Joint Commission “requires”.
List 1-2 strategies to determine what is required and what is not required.
