Session Description: In this session, the speakers will provide an overview of findings from recent federally-funded research studies examining infection prevention and control in post-acute care settings (nursing homes and home healthcare agencies). Specifically, the speakers will present new findings from:

1) Nursing home and home healthcare staff interviews about experiences with infection prevention and control during the COVID-19 pandemic; 2) A national survey of home healthcare agencies regarding COVID-19 experiences and emergency preparedness; and, 3) An analysis of COVID-19 policy impacts upon home health and nursing home patient outcomes.

The speakers will also discuss the significance of these findings for clinical infection prevention and control practice and implications for healthcare policy. Asking questions, reflecting, and engaging with the speakers, particularly around lessons learned while working in post-acute care during the COVID-19 pandemic, is encouraged while learning about scientific evidence that informs current infection prevention and control policies and practices in post-acute settings. This presentation is for attendees of all career stages interested in emergency preparedness for nursing homes and home healthcare agencies.
