Janene Gumz-Pulaski, M.B.A., B.S.N., RN, CIC, LTC-CIP earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Valparaiso University, minoring in psychology, and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and she has more than 28 years of experience as an infection preventionist. She maintains a CIC and LTC-CIP credentials from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC). Currently, Janene is contracted as the Indiana Department of Health as Assistant Program Manager and District 1 Infection Preventionist. She has been a mentor for novice infection preventionists at the IDOH and to others throughout her career. In 2022, she was a recipient of APIC Indiana’s Mentoring Award. She has served as a Board of Directors member, Emergency Preparedness Liaison, and Scholarship Committee Chair for APIC-Indiana. She was an Infection Preventionist and Executive Board member for the District 1 Hospital Emergency Planning Committee and an acute care facility’s Emergency Preparedness/Bioterrorism Coordinator. She presented at the national APIC conference in 2022. Janene received an Honorary Doctor of Medicine in 2007 while volunteering for a charitable organization in Honduras.
