Benjamin D. Galvan, MLS(ASCP), CIC, CPH is a board-certified, multi-center director of infection prevention with over 8 years’ experience in acute-care. With nearly 5 years in infection prevention, and a professional background in clinical microbiology, Galvan has achieved recognition in the infection prevention community through his performance improvement research and written editorials related to infection prevention and epidemiology.
Galvan currently serves dual volunteer committee roles for both the APIC National Communications Committee and the ASCLS National Patient Safety Committee. He is also an active member of his local APIC Bay Area Chapter (BAPIC). Additionally, Galvan represents APIC Consulting Services as an Infection Prevention subject matter expert working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s Project Firstline team.
In 2021, Galvan was honored as the inaugural recipient of the Emerging leader in Infection Prevention Award, and in 2022 he was selected as one of 104 rising stars under 40 through Becker’s Hospital Review. Galvan has a passion for advocating for professionals of diverse backgrounds entering the field of infection prevention.
Galvan is a 2015 graduate of the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) Clinical Laboratory Sciences (CLS) degree program and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in Infection Control at the University of South Florida.
Galvan currently resides in Tampa, Florida with his husband, Enrique, and two dogs, Chunk and Zoey. Galvan and his husband enjoy spending time at the beach and traveling to Walt Disney World.
