Mona Shah, MPH, CIC, FAPIC is an Infection Control Practitioner for the NorthShore University health system which includes four acute care hospitals within the suburbs of Chicago. Mona is board certified in Infection Control received her Master of Public Health from Walden university and has over 15 years of experience as an Infection Preventionist.
She is passionate about Infection Prevention and currently serves as the lead Infection Preventionist and subject matter expert for her organization in construction, serving both acute care hospitals and over 120 medical group sites.
Mona is active in her local APIC chapter and serves as the Bylaws chairman. Her current focus at NorthShore University Health system is collaborating with construction teams to ensure that infection prevention measures are in place before, during and after, in construction projects to prevent the spread of pathogens to patients and staff. She develops and implements dust control measures, ensures appropriate negative air pressure in construction sites, and verifies adherence to policies and procedures to ensure that infection prevention guidelines are being followed. Mona is responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance with infection prevention protocols, and conducting regular inspections in construction sites to identify potential infection risks.
As an Infection Control Practitioner, she is committed to continuing education and staying up-to-date on the latest developments in infection control practices and technologies. She is passionate about her work and takes pride in her ability to make a positive impact on the lives of patients and healthcare workers alike.
