Cari Simmons is an Infection Preventionist with the Healthcare-Associated Infections/Antimicrobial Resistance Program at the Tennessee Department of Health. Cari received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Middle Tennessee State University and a Master’s in Nursing Administration and Executive Leadership from Cumberland University. Her nursing career includes medical/surgical patient care, critical care, nursing education, nursing leadership, and nursing supervision. Cari has obtained her Certification in Infection Control (CIC) and is an active member in her local Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) where she serves on the board in the Nomination Committee. Cari’s passion and focus is on promoting the best practices in infection prevention and control to all healthcare facilities to reduce the risks of infections to patients, staff, and visitors.
