Steven Bock RN CIC FAPIC is the Program Manager for IPC Education and Infection Preventionist at NYU Langone Health in Manhattan, NY, where he has worked for more than 15 years. He has been an IP since 2002. He came to Infection Prevention from a role as a bedside nurse in cardiac telemetry and the Coronary Care Unit. Steve has worked as an IP in hospitals in rural, suburban, and urban settings ranging in size from 50 beds to over 1000. He has served in APIC chapters in NY and IA as board member at large, treasurer, secretary, webmaster, and president. He has given IP presentations at national, regional, and local conferences and published papers in several journals including Nursing and Prevention Strategist. He regularly has presented at his local APIC meetings and led his chapter’s educational conference planning teams for several years. He has passions for guiding and mentoring new IPs, teaching about Infection Prevention, ambulatory and inpatient care IP work, and helping his APIC chapter be successful. He has been certified since 1994 and became a fellow of APIC in 2016, the inaugural year for this distinguished recognition. He has a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and one in Nursing, both from Northwestern University.
