Nancy L. Havill MT(ASCP), MS, CIC is an Infection Prevention Manager overseeing approximatley 300 ambulatory services for Yale New haven Health System. She has over 20 years of experience in Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology. She has been an investigator on trials to evaluate the use of hydrogen peroxide vapor technology and a mobile ultraviolet (UV) light device for terminal decontamination of patient rooms in hospital settings. She evaluated the use of an adenosine triphosphate (ATP) bioluminescence assay system for monitoring the effectiveness of cleaning practices in patient care areas, and conducted a prospective study to compare fluorescent markers systems to aerobic colony counts and an ATP bioluminescence assay for monitoring cleaning practices. She has evaluated the efficacy of new disinfectants to be used in the healthcare environment. Nancy has authored and co-authored manuscripts on her work in infection control, epidemiology and microbiology in peer-reviewed journals. She has presented her work both nationally and internationally. She is currently serving on the Editorial Board for the American Journal of Infection Control and a past Program Director for APIC New England.
