Infection Preventionist

Sara Hallyburton, MPH, CIC has been an Infection Preventionist (IP) at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health since October 2021. She achieved her CIC in December 2022. Prior to her current role as an IP, she worked in public health for almost eight years - first as an Environmental Health Specialist at the Marion County Public Health Department, then as a Respiratory Epidemiologist and Influenza Surveillance Coordinator at the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH). Sara graduated with a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the IU Fairbanks School of Public Health in December 2015. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Human Biology: Health & Disease from Indiana University in 2011. She is an APIC national and APIC Indiana member. Sara was a former member of the Indiana Environmental Health Association (IEHA) for five years, and was the Central Chapter President in 2017.
