Infection Preventionist

Obianberi Oluchi Lesko MPH, CPH currently works at AdventHealth Tampa as an Infection Preventionist. Over the past 2 years, her work as an infection preventionist includes surveillance on National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) patient safety components (SSIs, CLABSIs, CAUTIs, VAE, PedVAE, LabID), data reporting, and projects such as environmental services cleaning audits. Prior to her work as an infection preventionist, she worked at the Florida Department of Health for 6 years, while providing direct support to the Bureau of Epidemiology for 4.5 years with projects such as Zika surveillance in pregnant women, Hepatitis A prevention program, investigation of reportable diseases and conditions through several database such as Merlin and ESSENCE, case reporting to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She also supervised a team of 10 contact tracers during the COVID-19 pandemic, assissting them in achieving accurate and complete case investigations. Prior to her graduate studies, she worked at a non-governmental organization in Nigeria called Society for Family Health where she provided HIV/AIDS counseling and testing to the public in different states. Oluchi holds a Masters degree in Public Health from the University of South Florida and a Bachelors degree in Public Health from Babcock University, Nigeria. Oluchi also holds a Certification in Public Health. Oluchi served as the 2021 Conference Chair for the Florida Professionals in Infection Control (FPIC). She has been an active member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and Bay Area Chapter (BAPIC) since 2021. In her free time, she loves to spend quality time with the people who mean the world to her, her family and friends.
