Ami Joy Hughes, PhD, MPH, CIC is the Manager of Infection Prevention at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Since joining SRAlab in 2017, Dr. Hughes has focused on developing data-driven infection surveillance and prevention strategies with the goal of improving patient outcomes. Her particular areas of interest within the field of Infection Prevention include reducing risk of antimicrobial resistant organisms and developing novel approaches to adapt best practice guidelines for physical medicine and rehabilitation care settings. Dr. Hughes earned her dual doctorate in Microbiology & Immunology and Masters of Public Health at Northwestern University. Prior to this, Dr. Hughes graduated from Clemson University with a BS in Biochemistry and a BA in French language.
