Amanda Umana, MPH, MSN, RN, CIC is an Infection Preventionist at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Prior to joining the Infection Prevention team in 2020, Amanda was a bedside Registered Nurse in the flex department at SRAlab. Amanda enjoys integrating her nursing experience with components of the IP role, providing a unique outlook to reduce hospital-acquired infections and transmissions among patients and staff. Amanda also has interest in applying data-driven strategies to improve and maintain patient and staff safety related to prevention of infection. Amanda earned her Masters in Nursing from University of Illinois at Chicago and her Masters in Public Health focused in Tropical Medicine at Tulane University. She also earned her BS in Health Sciences from DePaul University.
