Selected as a Fellow, Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), 2016, a designation for experienced IPs who have had significant contributions to the field of infection prevention (Selected among first FAPIC group). Certification in Infection Control, Certification Board in Infection Control, since 1984. Former Infection Preventionist, Sr. Instructional Support Specialist, Healthcare Epidemiology Department, SUNY, Stony Brook University Hospital, NY. Principal researcher on the effectiveness of silver-hydrogel urinary catheters, chlorhexidine skin antisepsis, and comprehensive oral care to prevent VAP. Current or former member of National APIC’s Strategic Planning Board, Education Committee, CBIC, and a trainer for APIC’s EPI Clinical Course.
Former Editorial Board Member and Reviewer, American Journal of Infection Control. Speaker at APIC, SHEA, AORN, AVA, IPC conferences. Recent publication: “Recommendations for Change in Infection Prevention Programs and Practice”, AJIC, December 2022, a publication for the 50th Anniversary of APIC.
