Infection Preventionist
Parkland Health
I am Tessy Davidson, RN, MSN, CIC working as an infection preventionist Nurse at Parkland Health, Dallas, Texas. I started my job at Parkland Health in 2007 as a bedside nurse and gradually stepped into leadership role in Nursing. While I was pursuing my Master’s in nursing education, I joined in the Infection prevention team which was one of my areas of interest, where I explore many areas of health care other than nursing.
My nursing education started in a well-known Nursing school in the State of Kerala in India. During those years, I was trained not only in nursing but also in personal development for a noble profession. In addition, two years of the internship gave me the strength and confidence to be able to work under any circumstances, whether it is fair or unfair. At the end of the internship, I continued pursuing my knowledge in nursing and I earned my BSN degree.
During my professional journey, I worked in India, the Middle East, and the United States where I learn various cultural aspects around the world and their perspectives towards healthcare systems. More than twenty years of nursing experience helped me to understand many aspects of nursing which have helped me to prioritize the work according to the need of the situations. At Parkland, I was honored with the Patient Safety Champion award and the D-Magazine nursing excellence award for patient safety and excellent nursing care.
I spend my leisure time cooking traditional Indian food, trying new recipes, watch comedy shows and movies. But the most enjoyable thing in my life is to be with my family, where I received all the support for my professional as well as my personal growth.
