Infection Preventionist

Merewyn (Merry) Sheeran, BS, RN, CIC, LTC-CIP is a contracted Infection Preventionist (IP) for the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Epidemiology supporting PA Project Firstline. She currently provides in-person and virtual educational sessions for frontline healthcare workers, in all healthcare settings, on fundamental infection prevention topics. Merry is a registered nurse and after working as a charge nurse and supervisor in long-term care, she assumed the role of infection preventionist and quickly became involved in her local Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Prevention (APIC) Chapter and served on the nominating committee, chaired the long-term care focus group and has been a voluteer member of her local APIC board since 2021. Merry obtained her certification in infection control in 2000 and has worked as a dedicated IP and independent consultant. Prior to assuming her current role, she was contracted by APIC Consulting to perform ICARs and IP training in support of the PA Department of Health ICAR Project for Skilled Nursing.
