Dr. Kinta A. Alexander DrPH, MS, MPH, CIC,
Director, Infection Prevention and Control at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem and Mount Sinai Health System 2019 honoree of the United Hospital Fund Excellence in Health Care Award for reducing hospital-acquired infection (HAI) rates and tackling the multi-drug resistant, hard to identify, and often deadly threat of Candida auris. During her tenure as an Infection Prevention leader she achieved top distinctions including reduction in HAIs. Dr. Alexander led numerous successful Joint Commission surveys throughout her career as an Infection Prevention Leader.
Her dedicated groundbreaking work in Infection Prevention and Control led her to be featured in the New York Times. She developed and implemented a protocol to prevent and control the transmission of C. auris. This protocol was adapted by the entire Healthcare System and the New York State Department of Health also used this protocol as a guide for hospitals throughout New York.
