Description: This course describes various lab and field tests used to detect bacteria. With GI procedure and medical device reprocessing areas as example clinical spaces, we’ll discuss how microorganisms are detected and the limitations of those tests.
Learning Objectives • Provide an overview of different types of bacterial tests available in a lab and in a clinical space • Differentiate between strictly bacterial tests and biological indicator tests • Describe the pros and cons of each, abilities and limitations
