Objectives: (1) Discuss the clinical, operational, financial, and performance-related device evaluation criteria for UV room disinfection devices (2) Review the need for systematic and enhanced room disinfection in today’s complex healthcare environment
(3) Share best practices for collaboration between infection prevention and environmental services to achieve total room disinfection, enhance healthcare safety and better clinical outcomes.

Overview:
With ongoing staffing challenges plaguing today’s healthcare delivery systems, Infection Preventionists and Environmental Services Professionals face many challenges in ensuring the clinical environment of care is properly maintained. Using adjunct disinfection technology, clinical environments can be reliably and rapidly disinfected, maximizing limited operational and financial resources and exceeding clinical standards of care. During this presentation, best practices in collaboration between Infection Prevention and Environmental Services will be reviewed as a core element for a successful enhanced disinfection program across healthcare facilities.

Continuing Education Accreditation:

This activity is accredited for 1.0 hours of continuing education for nurses by the California Board of Registered Nurses. All other healthcare professionals will receive an IPU certificate for licensure/recertification needs. Participants must attend the live program and complete the online portion of the program to receive continuing education credit.
