1302-A - Beyond Hospitals: IPs, Daycares, & Camps (Oh, My!)

Session Description: During the pandemic, infection prevention (IP) became a prominent area of focus. Additionally, subject matter experts in the field of infection prevention were counted on to provide guidance in challenging times. That expertise was not limited to the hospital setting, as many organizations, groups, and governments tried to navigate the best way to keep communities safe.

This was especially challenging for children and balancing the need for social interaction with safety was a priority for many. This talk describes how infection prevention tools were applied to provide guidance in unique settings outside of the hospital, such as daycares and summer camps. This was important to keep these programs and facilities open and available, while also keeping both the participants and employees safe.

This talk also highlights the importance of establishing relationships with various organizations and utilizing the relationships to promote the work of public health in our communities.

Finally, this will benefit professionals at all levels of experience and expertise by focusing on the need for collaboration and effective communication as part of the tools all professionals in the field must develop to be effective in their roles.
