2207 - ICRA 2.0

Session Description: What are the significant differences between the traditional construction infection control risk assessment (ICRA) process, and ICRA 2.0? Should your facility be using ICRA 2.0 for construction projects rather than your current process? This session will identify the changes that make ICRA 2.0 different, what is added, and what is still missing. The session starts with a crosswalk from the traditional ICRA to ICRA 2.0 comparing the differences. In this comparison, the focus is on the construction activity types, risk group assignments, adjacent space assessment, and precaution classes. The ICRA 2.0 process includes procedures specifically for in-house maintenance work, and these are discussed relative to their implications for infection control risk mitigation. The available ICRA 2.0 Process Guide includes expanded risk management strategies and engineering controls which will be compared to traditional construction ICRA strategies and controls. In addition to these new strategies and controls, there is a review of potential gaps remaining in the construction infection risk assessment process after ICRA 2.0, and where to find guidance for filling these gaps. In the end, you should be able to recommend to your facility’s construction teams if the ICRA 2.0 is appropriate for their use in addressing infection control risk in construction projects, and have the information to support your recommendations.
