Babies First! (B1st) is a public health nurse home visiting program that aims to promote health and well-being during pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood, as well as to reduce the gaps in pregnancy health outcomes, child growth and development, and child injury due to racial inequity. B1st is a long-running program with anecdotally positive outcomes for its clients but has never had a comprehensive evaluation. To understand how B1st is functioning, 16 interviews were conducted statewide with workforce members including nurse home visitors and community health workers as a part of a broader program evaluation. This session will highlight B1st home visitors’ perspectives on key home visiting activities, challenges to home visiting, and culturally and linguistically responsive services.
