Wendy Schwade has worked as a dental hygienist for over 36 years. After completing her Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she began her career working with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She spent over 10 years working as a clinician dental hygienist before transitioning into dental public health. She retired from full time work in 2018 and was awarded “The Order of the Long Leaf Pine” by the state of North Carolina. In 2020, she began working as a Program Consultant for the Whole Child Health Section, Division of Child and Family Well-Being, focusing on oral health care and children and youth with special health care needs.
