Martha Smith is the Missouri MCH Director and Public Health Nursing Manager, oversees the Title V MCH Services Block Grant, and is an Emergency Response Branch Director at the MO Department of Health and Senior Services. She earned her BS and dual MS in Nursing from the UT Medical Branch in Galveston, specializing in Child/Family Advanced Practice Nursing and Nursing/Healthcare Administration. With professional experience spanning diverse healthcare settings and roles, including public health experience in MCH home visiting, caring for CYSHCN, school health, emergency preparedness, community-based health education, health screening, advanced practice nursing, state public health program management, and statewide public health system leadership, her passion is population-based MCH, seen through the lens of the Life Course Perspective. Martha also owns a private healthcare consulting company, is the mother of adult quadruplets (2 boys & 2 girls), and volunteers as a mentor for youth, young pregnant women, and new moms.
