Westchester Institute for Human Development
Angel is the current Project Manager for the Children and Youth with Special Healthcare Needs (CYSHCN) Program at Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD) in Valhalla, NY. Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Angel relocated to the United States at the age of 18 to pursue his studies at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. After obtaining his BA in Sociology, Angel discovered a passion for helping his community and began working as a Patient Advocate at a local community health center. During his practicum, Angel had the opportunity to work on qualitative data analysis for the CYSHCN program at WIHD. Following the completion of his graduate studies in August 2021, Angel became a full-time member of the team, focusing on providing technical assistance to local health department CYSHCN programs, developing educational materials for families and professionals, and contributing to the development of family engagement procedures and program data analysis. Angel is committed to promoting health equity and is grateful to contribute to this goal through his work in public health.
