Louise Reiter has been a registered nurse for 40 years and has 25 years of hospital experience, first in pediatric hematology/oncology and then obstetrics. She has taught Lamaze childbirth classes, given lactation support, and facilitated postpartum mother's support groups. She joined the Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade in 2015 as a consultant and Fetal and Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) abstractor.Her training experience ranges from Zika Virus Prevention to Interconceptional Care, Perinatal Bereavement and Loss, Pregnant Women with Opioid Use Disorder, and Count the Kicks. She has helped Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade staff learn the importance of fetal movement awareness and has taught them how to instruct pregnant women on the ease of using the Count the Kicks app. Through the FIMR Project, it has been her honor to listen to families as they share memories of their babies and their losses. These personal stories guide the heart of FIMR and help direct changes that may improve services for pregnant women and their families and ultimately save babies.
