Margo Katz is responsible for the planning, implementation, and administration of the Substance Exposed Newborns Program at the Rhode Island Department of Health. In her role, Margo chairs the Rhode Island Task Force to Support Pregnant and Parenting Families with Substance Exposed Newborns (SEN Task Force) and manages the statewide implementation of the Plan of Safe Care federal mandate. Margo came to the Department after a nearly 20-year career in hospital-based healthcare where she led programs in infectious disease and biodefense, cardiovascular disease and stroke, and graduate medical education. She has a bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College and a master’s degree from Smith College.
