SK2 - Engaging with People who have Lived Experience

Engaging with people who have lived experience requires preparation. We will look at engagement from both sides: the perspective of those with lived experience, and how professionals can support success. Beginning with a definition of people with lived experience, we will present three frameworks of engagement that participants can integrate into their work.

We will address what is involved in onboarding people with lived experience and organizational readiness. Participants will complete a worksheet to address their own need for engagement. Our final practice will be to use a demographic assessment to determine how to enhance inclusion and equity. This session will close with answers to the most pressing question: how do we engage with people from underrepresented communities?
