Associate Professor and Director of Psychology Training

Dr. Sylvia Acosta, PhD, is an associate professor with joint appointments in the Departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry and Behavior Sciences. She is an experienced child-family psychologist with expertise cutting across the pediatric behavioral health spectrum. While she has a unique expertise in assessment and intervention with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, she is a child/adolescent “generalist”. She also has expertise working as part of inter- and multi-disciplinary teams, and providing consultation to primary care practitioners. Dr. Acosta is bilingual in English and Spanish, is a native-born New Mexican and serves as the Training Director for Psychology Training programs at the Center for Development and Disability.
