In August 2020, she retired from the fire service after nearly 18 years of employment as a firefighter, paramedic, and Infection Control Officer. Dr. McGuire-Wolfe's personal experiences as a single, working mother in emergency services have informed her interests in additional research related to parenting while employed in high demand professions, incorporation of Total Worker Health (TWH) priniciples to these unique work environments, and work-life balance vs. work-family conflict for public safety professionals.
