Lei’Ana (lee-ah-nuh) Riggs holds a master’s degree from The University of Toledo where she studied Health promotion/education and Public Policy. Lei’Ana is a Certified Health Education Specialist. Prior to coming to ODH Lei’Ana worked for the Pathways HUB in Lucas County where she worked very closely with the fatherhood program, breast feeding initiatives and Diversity and Inclusion Committee to construct policy training and development for the organization and its partners. She also interned with Promedica Hospital system in their Social Determinants of Health Institute where she Crafted a Walk Your Heart to Health Program; developed the curriculum and more. In addition to interning at Promedica she also interned with YMCA-Livewell where she connected with the local community, contributed to Safe Routes to School, Chronic Diseases and Food Insecurity programs. Lei’Ana has been at the Ohio Department of Health for one year and half. She is passionate about systems changes, policy, and cross-sector partnerships. She is a program consultant on the Public Health Transformation team for ODH’s Office of Health Opportunity. Lei’Ana assist with building health equity infrastructure internally to ODH staff and leading training and capacity and meaningful community engagement efforts. Lei’Ana leads a health equity group for local health departments to embed health equity in all programs and policies across the department.
