Karis Schoellmann has held a joint appointment with Tulane University School of Public Health and the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Public Health, Bureau of Family Health (BFH) for over 30 years. At the BFH she served in key leadership roles including as the team lead for the Communication, Innovation Action Team of the BFH, developing and managing the BFH's partnerships and networks, best practice health promotion strategies, and system level actions, and more recently as the director for academic partnerships and workforce development. Throughout the span of the 30 years, she has served as a bridge between practice and academia by incorporating practice-based perspectives of the Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Block Grant Program as well as practice- based design strategies into the classroom. On the flip side, she has worked to develop, facilitate and oversee a system to assure quality student experiences at the BFH.
