Independent Therapist and Consultant
private practice
Elizabeth Lanter, LCSW is an Independent Consultant and Clinician. She has worked with at-risk youth of all ages in various settings (child welfare, medical, therapy settings) and began specializing in Infant Mental Health almost 15 years ago. She realized that working with a younger population can help prevent so many of the social issues that she had previously worked on, as the quality of the relationship is decisive in how trauma is exacerbated and is a source of resiliency. She has advanced education certificates and training in therapeutic models that encompass the intersection of Trauma Informed Care and Infant Mental Health. She has real world experience healing from her own traumatic childhood experiences. Her goal is to use the theoretical and practical experiences gained in her career to fuel her big-picture thinking, and create system changes in the fields of trauma and early prevention. She provides mental health clinical consultation to child welfare agencies, home visitation programs, day cares, medical providers, legal teams and insurance companies to understand the importance of recognizing mental health needs of mom and baby to make appropriate treatment plans and referrals. She has helped agencies with the following: develop an early childhood mental health statewide program, develop a county child welfare court program focused on drug affected babies, provide mental health consultation to home visitors, provide mental health consultation to pediatricians, and provide mental health training and consultation to behavioral health and nurse case managers working with adults.
