Program Consultant
California Department of Public Health
Danielle received her A.A. in Early Childhood Education from American River College and a B.A. in Theatre from the University of California, Riverside. She worked with children, their families, and pregnant women as an Early Head Start Home Visitor. To better serve pregnant women she sought out opportunities to learn more about pregnancy, prenatal care, labor and delivery, and breastfeeding. This knowledge directly influenced her decision to utilize a doula for the birth of her two children. This work and her lived experience ignited a passion in Danielle’s to advocate for women and birthing people. She encouraged family and friends to utilize doulas, midwives, IBCLCs, and the Black Infant Health Program. Danielle began to seek out employment opportunities in this field and is now proud to be a Program Consultant with the California Department of Public Health’s Perinatal Equity Initiative team, whose mission is to improve birth outcomes and to reduce mortality for Black infants.
