Jihong Liu, Sc.D., is a Professor of Epidemiology and a perinatal epidemiologist in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina (UofSC). Dr. Liu’s research is centered on maternal and child health (MCH) with specific foci on maternal morbidities, health disparities, obesity-related behaviors, access to maternity care, and intergenerational linkages on child health and health behaviors. Dr. Liu has been funded by the NIH, HRSA, and the South Carolina BlueCross BlueShield Foundation, including two 5-year training programs funded by the HRSA: MCH Catalyst program (2020-2025) and the SC Maternal and Child Health and Leadership, Education, and Advancement in Undergraduate Pathways (MCH LEAP, 2021-2026). The MCH LEAP training program is designed to improve representation in the MCH workforce by training over 150 undergraduate students from underserved or racially and ethnically underrepresented backgrounds.
