Julianna Deardorff, Ph.D. is Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Associate Professor in the School of Public Health at UC Berkeley, where she heads the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) MPH program in the Division of Community Health Sciences. She is Director of the Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health Education, Science, and Practice at UC Berkeley, one of 13 Centers funded nationally by HRSA/MCHB, and the undergraduate Maternal and Child Health Leadership, Education, and Advancement in Undergraduate Pathways (LEAP) Training Program, also funded by HRSA/MCHB. Dr. Deardorff’s research focuses on early adversity, puberty, health behaviors during adolescence and related protective factors, with a focus on Latinx youth in the U.S. She has a strong history of funding from NIH focused on adversity, puberty, and health among youth and young adults from socioeconomically and ethnically diverse backgrounds. Dr. Deardorff teaches graduate level courses in Adolescent Health and Evaluation of Health and Social Programs.
