Dr. Richman is a Professor in the Department of Health Education and Promotion in the College of Health and Human Performance at East Carolina University. She received a Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of South Florida, a Masters in Public Health from Boston University, and completed a two-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Gillings School of Global Public Health. Since joining the faculty at ECU, she has generated ~3 million dollars in external grant funding across a variety of projects. Broadly defined, her research focuses on cancer prevention and control cancer, specifically on examining and intervening upon cancer-related health disparities. Much of her work is centered around increasing access to preventive health services for HPV-related cancers and breast cancer for medically underserved and disadvantaged populations, however her work also touches other aspects within the cancer control continuum such as early detection and treatment.
