Dulce started her career in Public Health in 2013 as a researcher with the Office of Health Equity at the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), working on the development of neighborhood level, social determinants of health indicators. Since 2017 Dulce has served as a lead scientist for the monitoring and evaluation of the Black Infant Health (BIH) program and more recently, as a Unit Supervisor supporting both BIH and the Perinatal Equity Initiative, within the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Division, of CDPH. This position has perfectly intersected Dulce’s interest in data analysis, direct services, and equity work. Dulce received a bachelor’s degree in Biology from San Carlos University in her native Guatemala, a master’s in Applied Statistics from Louisiana State University in 2005 and Doctoral degree in Entomology at the University of Florida in 2009.
