Dr. Chiang has a background in applied research, with specific training and expertise in quantitative methods, psychometrics, program evaluation, and research design in psychological and social science. Her work at the Institute for Human Development (IHD) focuses on leading Maternal and Child Health program and providing research and evaluation consultation to various projects related to disability services and community-based participatory research. In addition, as a PI on three maternal and child health projects, with Children's Mercy Hospital (CMH) on the Team for Infants Exposed to Substance use, with Nurture KC on Kansas City Healthy Start Initiative, and with Missouri Title V. She evaluates intervention effectiveness and analyzes program data for data-driven decision-making and best practices. She is also actively involved in research study design, scale development and validation, as well as data management and analysis of multiple projects at IHD. Her special interest is in addressing the comorbity between substance use and other behavioral health issues among women in perinatal phase through a life course lens.
