ASTHO and NACCHO provide opportunities for SPAN and REACH recipients to develop knowledge around evidence-based breastfeeding practices. Additionally, ASTHO and NACCHO provide technical assistance to support state and local health agencies in incorporating this information into new and existing breastfeeding programs and policies. ASTHO’s BLC provides opportunities for peer sharing and capacity building to address CDC’s three evidence-based and informed breastfeeding priority areas. NACCHO’s COC Blueprint aims to increase local capacity to implement community-driven approaches to support chest/breastfeeding, centered on the needs of populations disproportionately impacted by structural barriers that lead to low rates of breastfeeding. During this session, ASTHO and NACCHO will share successes and challenges that might arise when fostering these essential state—local partnerships. This session will also describe in detail how Connecticut SPAN and REACH recipients have successfully achieved a strong partnership between state and local health agencies.
