Change Specialist Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Denver, Colorado, United States
We work upstream in public health because problems will keep recurring until we address the root cause. Upstream is where we can create widespread, long-term change. When Colorado began implementation of our new priorities, the most common questions around moving upstream were: What is the work? How do we know if we're upstream? What are others doing to move upstream? How do we measure progress and impact? This session will provide an introduction to Colorado’s MCH Moving Upstream Matrix (MMUM) tool, which was developed in response to these questions. The MMUM tool has two dimensions to help us map where we’re currently working along the upstream-downstream continuum and make decisions about where we want to be working.
