MCHB-funded MCH Public Health Academic Training Programs, including the Centers of Excellence in MCH, have a long-standing history of partnering with Title V. These training programs are also committed to training racially and ethnically diverse students for future careers in governmental public health and preparing an MCH workforce who understands the life course and importance of advancing health equity. Together, academic MCH programs and their governmental partners can drive change in the MCH workforce and address issues faced in retaining a diverse workforce.

This session will highlight: (1): models of academic-practice partnerships that increase capacity in Title V agencies and expose diverse trainees to careers in governmental public health; and (2) lessons learned from qualitative interviews with Title V agencies on how to establish, grow and sustain mutually beneficial academic-practice partnerships.
