Dr. Breaux was born and raised in metro New Orleans. She completed a B.S. in Biology from the University of Missouri - St. Louis and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Illinois State University where she specialized in mosquito ecology. She completed two post-doctoral appointments in Brazil before returning to New Orleans. She is now a Research Entomologist at the City of New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board where she manages mosquito division activities. Dr. Breaux also conducts applied research and works with university partners to carry out continuous biological monitoring at green infrastructure sites across the City of New Orleans. Her research interests include vector ecology, biological control, and linkages between ecology, infrastructure, climate, and public health.
