I am a public health professional with experience in managing projects as part of the Zika Response in Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rico Vector Control Unit (PRVCU). Since 2009, I have been working on projects related to the Aedes aegypti vector with the University of Puerto Rico partners, federal and local government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Within the PRVCU, I am currently the Program Manager and oversee all the operations of the program. Since 2017 to 2022, I was the Community Mobilization Program Supervisor with the responsibility of the education, community engagement, and outreach program that focuses to educate and empower Puerto Rican citizens to be part of the reduction of the Ae. aegypti population in Puerto Rico. However, I continue overseeing all the community and communications efforts that the PRVCU conducts for vector control. I am in charge to develop and maintain relationships with collaborators, partners, community leaders, and municipalities. In addition, I had the opportunity to provide support to the communities in different emergencies in Puerto Rico such as hurricanes and earthquakes. My research experience includes understand the knowledge, attitudes, and practices in communities in Puerto Rico regarding the biology and ecology of the Ae. aegypti mosquito.
